As
Dance is a performing art, it is the responsibility of this school to provide
each student with an opportunity to appear before an audience. Working on a
group performance is an exciting, invaluable theatrical experience for everyone
involved. It offers students insight into the activities of Theater and Show
business and is therefore training in the stage arts. For these reasons our
yearly productions are conducted as a professional show with full sets, costumes
and lighting.
Even for the vast majority of students who may
never experience the footlights of Broadway or the bright lights of a television
studio, a magical thing happens. The thought of hard hours of practicing and
rehearsing have been left behind in a rosy haze of forgetfulness. As the
curtain rises, the taste of lipstick, the smell of powder and blush, the
twinkling of sequins on costumes and the excitement of dance will make every
child a Prima Ballerina or Master Danseuse….on a stage that will forever remain
in memory.
Your child will experience a new form of
expression, that of the beauty of movement, and the beginning of the
appreciation of the Art of Dance which will last a lifetime.

About
The Instructors
Miss Dolores
I have been dedicated to children and dance
for most of my life and am devoted to helping every dancer attain their highest
goals through hard work, determination, patience, kindness, and encouragement,
I began my dance studies at four years of age
with tap dance classes then added ballet and jazz. My teen years were spent
performing professionally in and around the Flint/Saginaw/Lansing area in
theatres and nightclubs that featured musical revues. I performed in musicals
for Flint Community Players and the Mott Fine Arts Festival, in addition to
singing with local bands such as: Brahm Ward, Ray Glowski and others. During
the summer I danced in the parks throughout the city. I have spent many years as
a choreographer, teacher, and studio owner/manager.
I opened my first dance school with 12
students. Since then hundreds of dancers have had the unbeatable opportunity to
dance at this school. For a number of years our students have had the experience
of performing in “Christmas At Whiting” and other local shows.
We have been at the Lennon Rd. location for 21
years. Previously the school was located on Chevrolet Avenue in Flint. Many
former students now enjoy bringing their children to 'their' dance teacher.
For 28
years I was a Charter Member of The Flint Ballet Theatre, known for bringing
full-length ballets to Flint using dance students from a variety of local
teachers. During this time I served as assistant to Dance Master Robert Davis,
for the Junior Group of Flint Ballet Theatre and The Tri-City Ballet Co. and was
a rehearsal mistress for these groups, as well as one of the audition
adjudicators. In addition, I was in charge of wardrobe and was responsible for
ordering all costumes for the Flint Ballet company dancers for 15 years.
All of
my life has been one of study with many notable teachers throughout the United
States and I have shared this knowledge by assisting several Flint Area teachers
with choreography for their schools and often serving as audition judge for many
of them.
Several of my dancers have gone on to make
careers in the world of dance, from teachers to professional dancers.
I am listed in the 2000-2001 Who's Who Registry
in the Library of Congress, in the Executives and Businesses section and am also
honored in various other publications for my many years in business as a Dance
Educator.

Miss Sarah
Miss Sarah has been an outstanding dancer at
Dolores' School of Dance since she was four years old. Sarah began as a junior
teacher's assistant at the age of eight and has been helping younger dancers
learn the technical points of dance ever since. She is an excellent teacher and
perfect example of what a dancer should be.
She has become a very accomplished dancer and
strives to impart that to our students. She teaches ballet, tap and jazz
classes every night and is a wonderful addition to our staff. She is a great
instructor and enjoys teaching everyone as much as they can learn at every
lesson.
Sarah has attended various Dance Conventions in
the Detroit area studying with many dance notables and is recognized as an
outstanding dancer and performer by many dance educators.
Miss Sarah is also very proficient in Swing
Dance and has demonstrated and performed in the Flint area many times.
